A sudden drop in temperature and the future looks much bleaker

September 19, 2012

Cold this morning, 3.5 degrees C. If it gets much colder it will be time to break out the Pogies and stop paddling barefoot. The Loch has suddenly become a much lonelier place. No Swallows this morning, I fear they are off to Sunnier Climes in the East, and the open water swimmers have disappeared. […]

GB radiates Merlot, warmth and calm in the rain… another bad morning

September 17, 2012

Well the Scottish K2 Championship were a resounding success despite horrible weather, with all plaudits going to GB. The fragrant Morag who has had the pleasure of having to live with GB Ecclestone over the last few weeks is most relieved it is all over. May be now GB will not be in bed at […]

The waiting game

September 16, 2012

Been up since 4:30. Preparing kit required as part of our role in running the Scottish K2 Championships. Have also been loading boats so as to ensure the Private Pike and Cortisone can boat this morning in their K2. 6:21am – at Loch Lomond but no sign of the Useless Duo.

GB and the big easy…. Zog gets a new boat… A flying visit from Louis the nice South African and other news…

GB and the Glasgow to Edinburgh… me thinks he protests too much… Last weekend Beaujolais had the pleasure of watching GB paddle 20km on the canal at Bowling. Any rumours that he is past it are far from true… he is flying, never have 20km been made to look so easy. My understanding is that […]

Beaujolais dips a cautious toe in the water

September 7, 2012

No Pike at 6:00 am this morning. Just a hesitant Beaujolais whose mission this morning was to see how the back would hold up to a short paddle. Nervously pushed off from Duncan Mills Memorial slipway and cautiously edged up the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond. Despite the early hour the Loch surprisingly busy with […]

Pike is hard at it whilst Beaujolais looks on

September 6, 2012

Another early outing for Private Pike. Third outing in a row- which is a first for Pike. Meanwhile a crocked Beaujolais can only look on at wonder at this emerging talent. For Private Pike things are beginning to get on track. 21km in the last 3 days. Surely he is getting enough miles in now […]

Corked good and proper- but the Water Babies are making progress

September 5, 2012

Beaujolais has still not returned to his prime. So is very much a spectator these days. However good progress by the Water Babies can be reported. This group are a mixture of Private Pike, the Cosy Kayakers (ie the ladies and gentleman (submariner) from the Cosy Coffee House in Helensburgh) and the Backchat Youth Project […]

A weekend in the Company of Bacchus

September 3, 2012

Monday morning at 5:00am and it is a very weary, frazzled and broken Beaujolais who drags himself down to the water. Not that he is in any fit state to paddle himself- the reason a weekend with Bacchus. It was all going so well up until 8;00pm last Friday. Then the a contrary wind blew […]
