Yes… 19 Press Ups in 2 minutes… And your problem is caller?

November 30, 2011

So Cortisone is no doubt chuckling into his Chocolate flavoured Sugar Puffs at my less than adequate Press Up score… Ok so I know I have a long way to go. But this year I am really finding it tough to get some consistency into the training for this years Devizes Westminster. If the Power […]

Visit Scotland…Not… Athletic Beaujolais…Not

November 29, 2011

A couple of weeks ago there was a feature on the news that they are struggling to maintain the water levels on the Kennet and Avon Canal. That some parts of the canal may as a result be unnavigable soon. That already in some places canal boats are being moved through locks in rationed stages […]

The Four Feathers

November 28, 2011

In the end there were only 4 paddlers prepared to brave the elements at Sundays 1st Linlithgow Winter Time Trial. A charming gentleman in a White water racer(I think), Cecile, the Silver Fox, and yours truly. Unsurprisingly it was The Silver Fox who recorded the fastest time. So despite all the fighting talk… Dirty D, […]

Blissful Sunshine

November 27, 2011

Beaujolais has arrived in Linlithgow. Despite 140 mph winds overnight and rain in Helensburgh, Linlithgow by contrast is enjoying superb weather. Beautiful sunshine, not a cloud in the Sky. Perfect conditions for a 6.8km time trial. Although a little disappointed by the lack of rain and wind. Beaujolais is ready to go..

A Darkness Descends

November 26, 2011

The plan this morning was to be up at 06:30, drag no 1 son out of bed, hit the canal at bowling, paddle 9km, and then after a quick shower, head to work. Sadly this did not happen, possibly due to the very cheap, but surprisingly cheap Spanish White Wine I consumed last night. So […]

Excuses and Posturing

November 25, 2011

A rather smug Beaujolais (that makes a change) received an email from GB this morning. The email reads… along the lines of…”Its too windy”…. So GB looks like a non starter for the 1st Linlithgow Winter Time Trail. if he carries on like this we may have to consider changing his paddling name from GB […]

The ferry from Oban to Barra and Uist is cancelled

November 24, 2011

This morning Beaujolais enjoyed a fine breakfast, the main course of which comprised off: 2 potato scones 2 fried eggs 2 slices of bacon 2 lorne (square- a Scottish delicacy) sausages Mushrooms Tomato Feeling a little guilty afterwards, it was a slightly bloated Beaujolais who took to the water on Loch Lomond. The extra ballast […]

The Naked Civil Servant

November 22, 2011

For some reason when paddling behind Cortisone the other day, I was struck with the recollection that I had read the memoires of one Quentin Crisp many years ago. For some reason I have always found Quentin Crisp an inspirational figure. He and Cortisone are both pretty iconic characters in Beaujolais’s book. Any way time […]

A few pics from the last few days…

November 21, 2011

An interesting weekend. Good paddle on Saturday emphasising the points that Antony (Partner for DW2012), Phil (Coach) and I had discussed at previous weekends coaching session. Paddled 7km comfortably then paddled further 7km at pace- new PB for that distance. Next morning my “core” emphasised the points of the previous days session, all muscular life […]
